# The FreeWrite: Week 51 Prompt

### Blindfold

Hi Friends!

Another week. Another prompt. I hope you are all doing well. I know this is coming to you late, but well… this is who I am now, lol. Let’s do it!

**This week’s prompt: A truth I don’t like to look at…**

I pulled the Two of Swords card just now, and this is what the booklet said: “You’ve raised your defenses, steeled yourself against opposition, and blindfolded yourself. By refusing to budge, you’ve blinded yourself to the truth of a difficult situation. Maybe you’ve shut off your emotions as a defense mechanism, or you’re refusing to see things logically. Perhaps you are stuck in analysis paralysis. Either way, you’re not dealing with the problem honestly. _**Take off the blindfold**_ and confront the issue.”

Sometimes we already know the answers but refuse to admit it. We look everywhere but directly at the things we need to just deal with. Because the truth can mean change. It can mean discomfort. It can mean admitting to something we’d really just rather not. In your writing, I task you with being bold and looking right at the truth. You don’t have to do anything but acknowledge it. You don’t have to dissect it. You don’t have to “fix” or change it. Just take off the blindfold. Write around it if you have to. Or better yet, write towards it. You may be surprised by what you see. Maybe the truth doesn’t look exactly as you have been building it up. Maybe it does. For better or worse. Go forth and write, friends!

If you need a reminder of how The FreeWrite works, you can check out the full details [here](https://open.substack.com/pub/talichaj/p/the-freewrite?r=11vp11&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=false), but the short version is this:

→ You free write—whatever that looks like for you.

→ Then drop a link to your writing.

No pressure to be polished. Just show up. That’s the magic.

**Happy free writing friends!**
