# The FreeWrite: Week 48 Prompt

### all we need is a lil help...

**This week’s prompt is: To ask for help requires…**

I’m thinking a lot about reaching out lately. A friend mentioned they were looking into getting tested for ADHD and had scheduled an appointment. I sat with that. It was something I had been thinking about for a long time for myself. That, and finding a therapist in general. But I’ve been in the sort of space where you start to notice all the little things that you need to work on about yourself. Little places I felt stuck and could use a strategy I couldn’t come up with on my own to solve. I knew I couldn’t do it alone. So I used my friend’s motivation to schedule my own appointment. It felt…nerve-wracking to ask for help, but I knew I needed it. What does asking for help feel like for you? How do you ask? Who? At what point do you take the leap and admit to yourself you should probably get another set of eyes on your problems? Big or “small”. Has your relationship to seeking assistance changed over time? The list of questions I have for this could go on and on, but I’ll leave us here. Just tell yourself the truth, friend. And if you need help with something, be sure to reach out, you deserve to have what you need 💜

Oh, and after my initial appointment, it seems I am highly consistent with the signs of ADHD. Oh, and filled with mild anxiety. Much more work on the way for me 💜

If you need a reminder of how The FreeWrite works, you can check out the full details [here](https://open.substack.com/pub/talichaj/p/the-freewrite?r=11vp11&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=false), but the short version is this:

→ You free write—whatever that looks like for you.

→ Then drop a link to your writing in the comments of this post so we can read and celebrate each other’s work by commenting.

No pressure to be polished. Just show up. That’s the magic.

**Happy free writing friends!**
