Wabi-sabi is not minimalism.
Minimalism is about control. You decide what stays. You curate. The emptiness is designed.
Wabi-sabi is about acceptance. The worn stone is not worn because someone decided to wear it. It is worn because people walked on it for a hundred years and the stone yielded.
The beauty is not designed. It is received.
That is a different relationship with the world entirely.

we're living through what Joseph Campbell would call the "belly of the whale." the old myths don't hold anymore. careers, institutions, religions, all hollowing out. the new myths haven't arrived yet. so everyone walks around in this mythological gap feeling vaguely lost and calling it anxiety. the feeling is civilizational. the discomfort of living in a between-story. and it's accurate.
