**On Closing the Press Room to Reporters**  
I got curious about authority to close the Press Office. Turns out that it is very limited and neither Hegseth nor the Pentagon in general has any authority to close it, much less designate it as a SCIF. This is kind of nerdy, but fun if you like to traipse around doing minor things like finding what Hegseth and his ilk can or can’t do.

**More thoughts on the Trump/IRS settlement and the Blanche addendum**  
It has suddenly hit me why Blanche came up with that addendum. This post is based on general legal principles and a couple of the Federal rules of Civil Procedure. I haven’t researched it enough to say that it applies to this settlement.
