We own two cars, a Chevy Traverse and a Kia soul. The Chevy puts its gear shift rod in the same place the Kia puts its windshield wiper rod. All I know is that more than once, I accidentally shifted into park during a rainstorm. And I had a collision with a parked car in front of me when I thought I had successfully shifted into park but what I actually did was put my back windshield wiper on.

It's funny how my wife being chronically late, just as you described, is directly correlated to whether or not she actually WANTS to go where we're going. When she doesn't, which is usually the case, she's always late. But miraculously, when she does, she's right on time. Net/net: it's not a character flaw ... it's code.
