Oh wow, this is incredibly smart (and sad). But there’s a way forward. Go read deeply, write a book review. (I just got one published, so you don’t have to be a pro at it.) And reward books and authors who are falling through the machine’s cracks.

If you’re a knitter, you might recognize The Dreaded Tangle. Unless your yarn arrives caked or wound into a ball, you’ll have to wind the skein before knitting.
