The U.S. used to have an active program of screwworm eradication in Mexico, to keep the fly from establishing itself in Texas. But Trump and his DOGE minions thought it anathema to spend money on a program in Mexico. So here we are.

So why didn’t Trump just build a wall to keep those Mexican screwworm flies out? Don’t they respect borders?
