I got a little jolt by the reference to the French exception. While nuclear energy isn't renewable, it allowed France to produce abundant, clean, cheap energy before those renewable batteries existed. Because all of the things you mentioned would improve lives, hopefully leading to an electorate that is more informed, better educated, healthier, and earning higher. All of those things work against Rs. They want a stupid, poor electorate that is easily manipulated *if* they can even find the time and energy to vote.
