Our lives have become an endless act of reaching.

One desire fulfilled, and the mind has already stretched itself toward the next. One insecurity resolved, and another quietly takes its place.

Like a moth circling a flame it can never quite reach, it keeps moving, convinced that fulfilment lies somewhere ahead—just beyond this achievement, this milestone, this next thing.

And while it runs, life slips quietly by.

The child finishes telling their story while we are replying to an email in our minds.

Can you be here—without needing this moment to be anything other than what it is?
It is a question I keep returning to in difficult moments, in repetitive tasks, in failed endeavours, and in ordinary afternoons that offer nothing to the self-image.

Because it is in those moments that resistance reveals itself. The subtle demand for life to be different. The quiet refusal of what is here.

Most of the time, that resistance remains hidden. But when I stop and ask the question, I can see it clearly.

There is a small, sacred pause between the moment something happens and the moment we react.

Most of our conditioning lives in that gap, moving so quickly that we do not even notice it.

This note is an invitation to pause in those moments.
