Prof Krugman, of course you’re scared. We all are.

There will be more preventable loss of life and the victims are unlikely to be among Forbes’ list of billionaire families.

There will be more violations of civil rights. If more than 3 days go by without me posting, the most likely explanation is that I’ve been arrested on “trumped up” charges. It makes me wonder if we should all have contingency plans on our substack homepages with next of kin info like at the doctor’s office.

Please don't mention dinosaurs: they vanished in Cretaceous–Paleogene (K–Pg) extinction event, together with ~75% of living species, when the Earth was hit by a giant asteroid. The collision has released the equivalent energy of several million nuclear weapons, which would apparently impress Pete Hegseth. I'm not consoled by the thoughts about some crocodiles that would survive after me.
