I have never known an immigrant(Iranian, Russian, Mexican, Swedish, Lebanese, German, Israeli, Palestinian, Indian ) that did not enrich my life through knowing them. They want to be here for a variety of reasons of reasons, usually to escape rightwing threats and violence at their former home. To a man/woman, they love America. Cannot say the same for the cradle citizens who are terrified of their racial purity being weakened. Hint: when making an alloy, the various component metals add to the ultimate result. So do my international friends.

He’s just my beautiful grandson) but the entire wknd has been nothing but, not just the obvious Juneteenth celebration, but one where all cultures are getting together to celebrate Juneteenth!!!!!!!

My mom, a lovely Irish woman with zero kitchen skills boiled everything till it was grey. I didn’t learn to like food until I met a man with right off the boat Italian family who graciously taught me to cook. If it wasn’t for them I’d still be using the 2 spices used in my home - salt & pepper.
Now I love to experiment in the kitchen!

You definitely are not. I delighted in the community of my school where we had 27 home languages Best night of the year? Multicultural night, where our families shared all our different foods, customs and dances and practices. After I retired, I substituted in schools that lacked any diversity. I found myself looking for the rainbow of children. I found myself looking for everyone else. A garden filled with just one type of flower might be pretty, But one with many different kinds of flowers is beautiful.

My father was an immigrant from Norway. He learned to speak impeccable English. He loved opera, classical music, the Stones, Kinks, James Brown. He taught us to be self sufficient.

My son has several friends whose parents are also immigrants from various countries. We are a white family. They are great kids and their parents love my son as their own. They are beautiful people. They share their food culture and my picky eater eats everything now. 🤗

I totally agree. And to tell you the truth I like them and appreciate them so much more since Trump has come to office. It just never occurred to me how vitally important they are to our economy.

I love food history and how so many different cultures have influenced our food culture in the US. It is something to celebrate our amazing diversity. I had some real good renters in my house next door. But they got scared and left, I don't blame them at all. They did so much work on that house and they kept the yard up and oh the tacos.

I lived in a small town in the mid-west for almost 15 years. The one thing I yearned for and missed the most was diversity! Who wants to look at the same faces all the time? I love that we are all different yet have more in common than we don’t. Like the great poet Maya Angelou wrote: “We are more alike, my friends, than unalike.” Repeat that and keep repeating❣️🥲🫂❤️
