Cait Conley, the candidate the TPUSA teenage tradwives tried to drag for “looking like Dylan Mulvaney” (like thats a bad thing) - has won her Primary and will hopefully unseat Trump loyalist Rep Mike Lawler in November. Cait is a Decorated Combat Veteran and National Security Expert, she is the first women in Special Ops leadership, and…

I can confirm from the Midwest that they are divorced and had to go back to school to support their kids. Or they are still deep in it and already grandmothers.

Not just a Midwest thing. It’s a poor white lady thing and here in the middle of rural poverty you see it everywhere. The young women fantasize about it but think they can pull a rich guy (they can’t) or that they’ll never be tossed aside for a younger woman. Out here I’m shocked at the sameness between the women who espouse it and the women who have multiple children by multiple men, none of whom pay child support.

This is what happens: read Shannon Vavich’s account of how her husband of 30 years (and 7 kids) discarded her in Gutter Catholic Daily Digest. She’s an incredibly intelligent and resourceful woman who is ultimately going to be fine, but she’s also pretty clear about what being a tradwife cost her. I was a SAHM for 20 years, I don’t regret the investment of time in my child, but I and my daughter were also eventually abused by my husband, and we escaped about 2 years ago (I’m in my late 50s). Fortunately I married late,…

I was 10 when I watched the first wives club and thought....oh...depending on a man for money is a bad idea. and then i looked at my parents and went, yup. confirmed.

YES!! I think I was around the same age when I watched First Wives Club with my mom and aunt! I swear it should be required viewing for girls.

I guess when you are young and in love, it sounds so romantic. Young minds are easily manipulated. I totally agree with you, they realize they are missing out on life and end up divorced because they’ve had enough.

Anna18h

My mom stayed home when we kids were little. By 47 she had a job. She and my dad had always planned for it to be a temporary arrangement. Now she's 64, retired, and still married.

Sometimes she wishes she'd worked more and been able to bank more social security, but she's also happy for the time she had with us at home.

I stayed home for seven years and don’t regret it — it was wonderful time invested in my children. But it absolutely harmed me financially. We should have a system that allows women to concentrate on motherhood for a season and then return to their careers without financial harm.

Excellent point and well-said! ❤️ The conservative movement is taking advantage of young women who are only 19 or 20 because they often lack the life experience to recognize patriarchal traps 🪤 and are at an age where it’s easier to idealize relationships with undeserving men. They haven’t “kissed enough frogs” yet, so to speak, to have experience to draw on of what a lousy relationship vs. a healthy relationship looks like. This makes them vulnerable to giving up rights to freedom they’ve barely experienced

Yup. Targeting young girls and women to use and abuse them is what conservatives do.

There aren’t many 47 yr old influencers period so not sure we’d see them regardless of how their lives turned out. I take your point but would argue they do exist and that they don’t give a shit about performing on the internet as the 20 something’s do. And they are all performing to some degree if you see them on the internet. They’re gaining followers who either actually agree with them or they’re rage bating and gaining attention that way. Which likely monetizes their position and further encourages them to dig in deeper.

I gave up my military career thinking my (then) husband ‘s military career was more important. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE! He lied and cheated while I took care of the home and our kids. I filed for divorce and had to claw my way back into the workplace. I tell my girls to never tie themselves to a man’s finances ever again.

The Bridges We Build2d

Because we saw our mothers, aunts, grandmother's, or older sisters go through the aftermath of this stuff. A lot of us had to deal with this crap from employers, partners and more throughout our lives. What's sad is that they will get to a point where the light bulb comes on and then they're stuck. Amazing how nobody learns from the past, to many people it's just abstract history.

12

E. A.2d

The truth is not mean, it is necessary.

19 and 20 year olds have not developed enough to know better.

As women get older, they get wiser, and learn to say no more to abuse of any kind.

I did.

Exactly. More than likely they are divorced and in poverty, the man refuses to pay child support and he hid all of his finances and quit his job to avoid paying child support.

And then he remarries a woman who’s about 20 to 30 years younger than him and gets her pregnant immediately. That’s what happens.

And that 50-year-old former child wife is struggling to make ends meet, never finished our educational work to support her now ex-husband, struggling to feed her children, struggling to find chi…

Most Mormon women have degrees, some just choose to stay home after they get them. Many have to work because their husbands do not make enough money to support them and all of their kids. All of them that I know have access to the same things I do. The polygamous cult Mormons are another story.

I know I became an engineer in the early 80”s and I was lucky to be accepted and given a chance in a man’s area There were a few comments but generally feel good about the opportunities and my confidence to contribute to my family I have seen many at home women get divorced around the time the kids go to middle school ( when kids don’t want to be around their parents a lot)

Funny that they think this is so new and they thought of all of this, so it must be great. But marriage works best with honesty (does anyone really believe all the influencers say or show?), and if the two parties agree on their relative roles, value, and duties as they move through life. And that everything (earnings, savings, investments, delayed compensation, assets, debts, children, pets, property, appreciation, hidden accounts, pensions, etc.) cover them both equally no matter what happens…

The biggest reason you’re not seeing the older trad wives is because it’s propaganda aimed at men and girls. It’s an active campaign by Christian Nationalists to get women out of education and the workforce, and back home birthing white, Christian babies. There are plenty of 47+ trad wives out there. Go to any Mormon church or Evangelical church on a Sunday and you will see them. They are the ones who are actively teaching the younger generations that this is God’s will for them, and supporting…

I’m not confused about their espousal of this way of life. I grew up in a household that was coded tradwife lite. What I am confused about is the values misalignment of them saying it’s the only way.

This was supposed to be the party of rugged individualism, live your own life. Their preaching a singular monoculture war is the tell that something is very, very wrong.

It’s an unrealistic fantasy for all, other than the few years where the kids are the youngest and need the most support, having a wife who will stay at home won’t necessarily make the guy happy or improve his well being.

My wife spent 14 years at home, in part because she preferred that in part because we could without too much financial stress and now she’s working again she’s happier and by proxy so am I.

Fell for it, now I’m divorced and destitute at 37.

Ladies, NEVER tie yourself to a man like that. It’s not the life you think it is

White Squirrel's Nest1d

I would think that most of these young women would know women that followed that life path. I get the impression that maybe they are trying to appeal to women that are more conservative than their parents and reacting against the executive style feminist mother that didn't have time for them. That's the whole TPUSA schtick, “rebel against your left wing commie parents!”

Probably in the kitchen, the office, the school pickup line, the church pew, the grocery store, or helping with grandchildren—living ordinary lives that do not photograph well for an algorithm.

Most women devoted to faith, family, marriage, and home are not online performing a “tradwife” identity. They are simply doing the work.

Perhaps the problem is not that 47-year-old traditional women are hidden.

Perhaps no one is looking for them unless they can be turned into a stereotype. 🙏

100% agree! Most women are more independent these days and want their own money and most of all the freedom to do whatever the hell they want!

The “trad wives” should be proof of concept for AI taking jobs: of videographers, makeup artists, lighting, post production, wardrobe, etc.

If the actresses are at least a little authentic and not totally fake, they have the 2-FTE job of running their household, plus at least another FTE doing the jobs of 7 people in video production (with the AI assist), plus the FTE of acting in the videos.

Now, if I told you having the equivalent of 4 full time jobs were the key to happiness, you’d want some of what I was smoking.

I agree, they would not be that eager to sign up! And my first thought is: are they hiding, or are they just not in our algorithm? I think for many of the older women it's the sunk cost fallacy - even though bitter experience means they no longer believe what they once preached, they've preached the tradwife gospel so long they just can't back down now.

Eight months ago, in the aftermath of the Charlie Kirk killing, the Washington Post fired me after 11 years as an editor and columnist.

I told the truth about the racial double standards of political violence discourse in this country. For that I was labeled a threat to the Post.

I’m fighting back. Tomorrow we head to arbitration.

Let’s goooooo.
