Welcome to Softly Wired
Merging my two substacks into one powerhouse for ND lifestyle writing

Heyyyyy
Oh my word, it’s been a while since I wrote over here. I have to say though, that it’s probably the one online space where I don’t feel immense shame at not having been consistent.
I started writing substack earlier this year under the name of Lessons from the Kitchen Table - a passion project, writing about homeschooling as a neurodivergent family. At the same time I started a tiktok account to share short form content around the same topics, and both here and there grew relatively fast. Which I hadn’t expected! The pull to start writing is one I’ve had forever, wanting to write a book (I will do it one day!) and as we slowly built our wellness business, I needed a creative outlet. Cue this space.
Then the wellness business range was ready and suddenly I had to felt like I had to split myself into two: the AuDHD Wellness me and the AuDHD homeschool mother me. I’m sure you can see where this is going - because it’s something I imagine 90% of neurodivergent creatives have experienced - trying to split yourself, or niche yourself into different parts absolutely does not work.
Like, at all.
So I’ve spent the past couple of months writing a wellness Substack which I hated with every fibre of my being - not because I hate wellness. I don’t. I live and breathe that shit (just not in the crunchy almond mum way, more in the laid back, let’s eat some ice cream and sit in the sun and enjoy life way). But in the sense that I suddenly had this impending doom of “you have to write this”.
Ugh. Ick. Nope.
Stick a pencil in my eye instead please and thanks.
Of course, the initial balls to the wall energy dies off and then you’re left staring at the mess you’ve created and wondering, where to next?
I recall listening to James Wedmore - a business mentor, and a business expert who has really made it big in his lifetime. He said, and it’s always stuck with me (lol): it comes down to stickability. Anything can work, any project, passion, hobby, goal, business - if you stick to it. If you don’t give up at the first hurdle, and don’t switch gears or tactics.
Yet, time and time again, here I am pivoting in the hope to make things more streamlined.
To make things make more sense in my brain and within my energy.
To make my creative output feel more like me.
But then I second (triple, quadruple) guess myself that I’m not showing stickability. But how does one stick to something that feels so inherently not aligned?
SO anywho, this is where we’re at LOL. (Get to the point Amy!)
I’ve merged my Substacks (woooop). So you’ll find now that we’re Softly Wired - a nod to the fact that we’re intentionally doing life differently, striving for living and being and experiencing rather than hustling and stressing, and that we are wired in a beautifully unique way - a lifestyle space for ND mothers, encompassing family connection, creativity, leisure lifestyle and radical responsibility.
It feels good to be back, and good to be standing firm in how I bundle up my musings and creations to offer to others. Lmk how you’ve been? What’s been happening?
