I was thinking that the adult (assuming they are most observant and could take the quickest notes) would create the bingo list to draw from. Everyone would “pay attention to one place for like 20-30 minutes writing observations on a blank bingo card. Then after the time is up the adult would call out observations and the young people cover their squares when observations they wrote down are called. First one to bingo wins a prize. Of course there could be 2nd to bingo or a blackout round.

Intriguing. I can see how it could surface some of the similarities and unique things about what we each sense about a place. I do wonder what we gain/lose when we layer on a game/prizes and something to win. If you’ve done this before, the activity itself/the chance to strip everything away and just experience is so rewarding in and of itself.. I worry a bit that the game element could distract/ compete with the chance to deeply sense the place. Thought provoking. Ty!

I pick up what you’re putting down. I am going to include this in a little series I was going to lead for my kids and a few friends this summer. There are three sessions creating various maps I found from the book “how to be an explorer of the world”. I’ll make the attention in one place the last one since it’s the only one to be a “game” with a potential prize. That way expectations stay in check and the point is not lost on the material pay out.
