MARS IN GEMINI

Mars in Gemini stokes rivalries – the reason being that twins are siblings and sibling rivalries are the earliest form of competition. Everything you learned about winning, losing, thwarting and outwitting comes from those early years spent battling with your sibling for Mom or Dad’s attention. All of this will come rushing back while Mars, the planet of combat, is in Gemini from June 28th to August 11th. You can expect to lock horns with a competitor during this time but instead of a knock down drag out fight, you may discover that this person is a plus not a minus. Why? Because a competitor motivates you to try harder than you would have on your own. They’ll also tell you things your friends won’t because friends will only say you what you want to hear while a competitor tells you the things you need to hear. It’s one of life’s weird contradictions how an enemy can be a friend at the same time, but that’s how Mars in Gemini works. Mars will always push you to be the best that you can be according to the zodiac sign that it’s in.

ARIES (March 20 - April 18)

There’s no such thing as fun and games as long as Ruling Planet Mars is in Gemini. Everyone is playing for keeps. This means that you shouldn’t believe anyone when they say that they were kidding or that they just wanted to get a rise out of you. They meant what they said. Remember the words of fellow Aries Maya Angelou: “when people show you who they are, believe them the first time.” This will do a lot to cut down on the pain and disappointment of the next few weeks. It will also help you separate the false friends from your true blue ones.

TAURUS (April 19 - May 19)

You were born under a zodiac sign famous for giving peace a chance, but even you will have a hard time maintaining your cool when Mars enters the sign of Gemini on June 28th. Enough is enough as far as you’re concerned and it’s time to put an end to somebody who’s been poaching on your intellectual territory or angling to come between you and a loved one. All it takes is a stamp of your foot and a snort to send this person running. Next time don’t wait so long to protect what’s yours. Some people like possessive types. It makes them feel wanted.

GEMINI (May 20 - June 20)

Mars in your sign pushes the pedal to the metal. Not only will you work faster and smarter, but you’ll be bolder in the challenges you take on. No more ducking out of problematic situations. You will be surprisingly decisive, deliberate, and direct. You can also expect to get a lot done. You perform better when there are less options on the table. It makes you more inventive and resourceful. Obviously you’ll be stepping on toes and putting people’s noses out of joint, but they’ll be willing to make allowances as long as you produce results. Mars will be in Gemini through August 11th.

CANCER (June 21 - July 21)

Cancers are often accused of being timid and playing it safe. It’s because of your tendency to blend into the background. What people forget is that your zodiac sign is ruled by the Moon, named after Diana the Greek goddess of the hunt – and, as any hunter knows, you don’t want to give yourself away by being conspicuous or making noise; what you want to do is lie in wait until your target moves closer. This is something that everyone will see for themselves on June 27th when you finally make your move and seize a prize that nobody knew you were even interested in.

LEO (July 22 - Aug. 21)

You’re on to bigger and better things - which is great - but you wish you knew where you were going and how much it will cost. It’s always tricky following an impulse instead of a plan, but this is one of those times when you have to put your trust in the Stars because figuring out the whys and wherefores would be like putting the cart before the horse. The freedom to reinvent doesn’t come from repeating what’s come before; it comes from winging it. Go with what inspires and enlivens you and you can’t go wrong – especially with Jupiter entering Leo on June 30th.

VIRGO (Aug. 22 - Sept. 21)

Being short-tempered is de rigueur when Mars is traveling through Gemini. You know you’re not the easiest person to live with nowadays, but you also can’t help feeling like loved ones and friends are being oversensitive. It’s like anything you say can and will be used against you – even an apology! An irascible energy, Mars thrives on friction and the heat of conflict so you can’t win for trying. The best way to get through this period is to think before speaking, nod and smile in all the right places, and keep your sense of humor handy. Mars will be in Gemini through August 11th.

LIBRA (Sept. 22 - Oct. 22)

A lot of times when one version of events contradicts another there’s an attempt to try to honor both. It’s the diplomatic thing to do and you were born under the zodiac sign of diplomacy. Unfortunately this can also create a false equivalence where one side is getting short-changed. The plus side to Mars being in Gemini for the next six weeks is that you’ll be too impatient to try to appease both parties and may even have a few choice words for the one you think is culpable. It’s not like you to let your irritation show, but loved ones and friends couldn’t be happier.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23 - Nov. 21)

You’ve been waiting for the other shoe to drop and it will on June 28th. You’ll be relieved to see it’s only a sandal and not a combat boot thanks to your behind-the-scenes work in putting out fires as soon as they start. It’s been quite an exercise in stealth and ingenuity. Unfortunately things will only become more challenging in the run-up to the Mars/Uranus conjunction in Gemini on July 4th. Evidently a certain boss or supervisor still hasn’t learned their lesson and will resume with their dysfunctional management style. Be proactive and get your contingency plans in a row because a confrontation is unavoidable.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22 - Dec. 20)

Picking up your things and leaving in a huff is never the way to go. It didn’t work in kindergarten and it won’t work now. Sagittarians don’t always take criticism well (you’re worse than Leos) and you often react as if you’ve been personally singled out. Nevertheless a loved one won’t back down which begs the question: is it so hard to say that you messed up? People mess up all the time without making such a big deal of it. Yes, the truth hurts, but you’ll never improve if you don’t listen to what needs to be said. Besides it comes from a good place.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 21 - Jan. 18)

You could have torn everything down and started over, but you decided to rework what you have instead. It isn’t easy overhauling something tried and true - breaking down its components, analyzing every part, and deciding what to keep and what to toss. The process has been enlightening, but now it’s time to put the pieces back together. Thank heavens Mars sextiles Jupiter on June 27th. The planet of destruction becomes the planet of industry when positively aspected allowing you to reconfigure what you have in a new and improved way. What emerges on July 2nd will impress admirers and leave critics gasping in astonishment.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 19 - Feb. 17)

Mars makes quite the about-face when it enters the zodiac sign of Gemini on June 28th. After weeks of fighting turf wars, you’ll be shaking hands with the very people who were once your fiercest opponents. This may leave loved ones and friends completely flummoxed, but it makes perfect sense if you think about it. Who’s more worthy of being called a comrade than adversaries who gave you a run for your money? They’re the ones whose respect truly matters. Obviously this change in attitude isn’t going to go over well in some corners of your life, but then again that’s their problem – not yours.

PISCES (Feb. 18 - March 19)

It looks as if you seriously underestimated someone which is quite a twist considering how you tend to view people as being better than they are. Nevertheless it appears as if that person you wrote off as a loser is actually a winner in disguise. Pleasant surprises like these often happen when Mars forms a sextile to Jupiter (June 27th) but the question remains: can you salvage things now that you know better? Typically more sinned against than sinning, it will be interesting to see if you can really ask for this person’s forgiveness. It all depends on how willing you are to start again.
