Hey guys, drum roll please… Blake Wex is Italian!

So, let’s be clear: as I said many times before Blake Wex doesn’t really exist; he’s my alter ego, and therefore he can be whatever you want him to be.

Although I was born and raised in Italy, I’ve now lived abroad longer than in my homeland. I think in English, and it’s the language I write my stories in.

In recent months, I’ve noticed a growing number of Italians following me or subscribing to my Substack. I don’t know if it’s a coincidence or the magic of algorithms. At first, I decided to stick tightly to my Blake Wex persona, but on second thought, I found it a bit rude not to reveal my nationality and communicate in my native language with my fellow Italians.

I want to try something new and reward my non-English-speaking followers with the Italian version of my stories. That’s proper curated versions of my stories not simply using auto translate. I tried to see how it handled them, and the answer is… pretty badly: it kept using the wrong gender, and once even mentioned the clitoris—nothing against it, but I assure you, it doesn’t appear that often in my fiction!

So I decided to launch a parallel publication with the _impressive_ name: Blake Wex in Italiano! For you, nothing will change, except a few notes in Italian, and hopefully (I’m still working on it) all the posts in Italian will reach only the targeted audience!
