my mother's heart - by Anmol Atreya - Anmol’s Musings
my mother's heart
Aug 10, 2025
A mother's love is so pure
it melts away all worries
and finds us at the centre of our truth
It glides over our weaknesses
and hugs us back to confidence
It looks into our eyes through years of prayers made in silence,
hard work toiled in earnest,
just to give us more comfort,
more love,
more ease
It scans our face for clues
so that it may take away signs of even the slightest discomfort
Our mothers love us with a heart much bigger than the body can hold,
their love flows over
into our beings
and lights up the foundation of who we are
Sometimes I forget the enormity of love that encapsulates me,
I forget just how tender and precious the hands that hold me silently really are,
But seeing the love in my mother's eyes,
I return,
Back to the pureness
Of all that was wished for me,
All that my heart can hold
My mother loves me with a heart bigger than the body can hold,
So that I may become more than this body I grew into.
“ I always return to myself, always more faithfully.”
- Marguerite Duras
